Why do we need to hold your personal data?

‘Personal data’ is covered by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of May 2018.

The lawful basis for us holding and processing your personal data is that you have consented to us having this data and/or it is in the vital interests of the children and young people we work with. This could be:

  • As a supporter of the The Net – for us to communicate with you eg) to send you updates about our events (usually once a month).
  • As a parent/guardian – to evidence your consent to allow us to work with your child/ren, to give us their details and to communicate with you eg) about cancellations of events and activities.
  • If you work for us, even in a voluntary capacity – to communicate with you and to safeguard vulnerable children and vulnerable adults.

  • Who do we share information with?

    In line with our beliefs, we do not share or swap your information with any other organisation. However, we may have a legal duty to pass on information if required by law or by a regulatory body. For example, a Gift Aid audit by the HMRC, or if asked for details by a law enforcement agency.

    Your rights regarding the Data we hold about you

    You have the rights to:

  • obtain a copy of the data that we hold about you
  • rectify any mistakes
  • request erasure
  • restrict processing
  • request data portability
  • object
  • not to be subject to processing and automated decision making or profiling.

  • You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you think there is a problem about the way we are handling your data.

    Data Retention

    We will hold your data until you request erasure. This may be different if we have legitimate concerns about the safeguarding of children and/or vulnerable adults.
